There are an estimated 200 UK citizens in the city. The British nationals were due to be repatriated back to the UK on Thursday morning. In a statement released on Wednesday night, the Foreign Office has confirmed that the plan to fly them aback has now been cancelled as permission has not been granted by the Chinese government. A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "We are doing everything we can to get British people in Wuhan safely back to the UK."A number of countries’ flights have been unable to take off as planned."We continue working urgently to organise a flight to the UK as soon as possible. “We remain in close contact with the Chinese authorities and conversations are ongoing at all levels.”More to follow...
